You might want to know how to win the lottery — especially as the Powerball jackpot jumps to a $750 million payout. Stefan Mandel, a Romanian-Australian economist, developed a formula that's allowed him to win the lottery 14 times. You're four times as likely to be struck by lightning than to win the lottery. Those odds apparently don't apply to Stefan Mandel, a Romanian-Australian economist who's won the lottery 14 times, The Hustle reported in a feature story about the mathematician. You can no longer buy lottery tickets in bulk and print your tickets at home — two key parts of Mandel's formula.

The slowing US economy is hitting truck drivers, and the sector could be heading for worse conditions than 2008. Freight demand has deteriorated over the last year, and per-mile rates for drivers have plunged since the pandemic boom in 2021. For example, drivers are commanding per-mile rates as low as $1.49 per mile, per FreightWaves. Those rates hovered at $3.01 two years ago, and are worse than the levels seen in a brutal 2019 slowdown. Meanwhile, the American Trucking Associations' advanced seasonally adjusted for-hire truck tonnage index dropped 5.4% in March, marking the largest monthly drop since April 2020.
Despite this clear warning, Wall Street is still delusionally optimistic about how the stock market will perform in 2023. According to Bloomberg, Wall Street analysts expect S&P 500 companies' earnings per share to hit $229 in 2023 — a steady increase from their initial 2023 estimate of $211 at the start of this year. Pretend it's the end of 2019 — not a terrible time for the stock market and the US economy. Even if corporate profits sink back down to that healthy level, it's still a long way down from where the stock market sits right now. All the visuals you've seen of a screaming-red stock market and sweaty traders doing the sign of the cross — those are just the beginning.

But some consumer advocates and doctors worry that those supplements don't have as many benefits as people think. "Our gummy vitamins have been on fire," CEO Matt Farrell told investors in a July earnings call. He said that Hero Nutritionals, founded in 1995, created the first gummy vitamin for the American market. A Perrigo representative said it no longer manufactured gummy vitamins, and it did not respond to further inquiries.) But the doctor had something to admit: He takes a gummy vitamin every day.

According to a Comet study, the state with the highest proportion of millennials living at home is New Jersey, where 12.5% of millennials live at home.
